Towards a Greener Future with Daikin

In recent months, the environment has been at the forefront of many people’s concerns. Combating climate change and preserving our beautiful planet are among the hottest topics today.

At Daikin, the environment is a priority reflected in our products, from their design to their operation. Here is a summary of the main actions taken by Daikin to envision a greener future.

Serious Environmental Efforts

Every year, Daikin invests a significant amount in research and development to design products that are increasingly green and environmentally friendly. For the company, ensuring the comfort and environment of its customers involves actions on both a small and large scale. By developing and marketing devices equipped with Inverter technology, Daikin has been able to reduce its environmental impact by nearly 54 million tons of CO2 emissions.

The R-32 Refrigerant: An Ally in Environmental Preservation

The refrigerants contained in air conditioning units are essential to their proper functioning but can pose environmental risks. That’s why Daikin now uses R-32 refrigerant, a new-generation refrigerant that effectively transfers heat while having a lesser environmental impact. Did you know that Daikin is the only manufacturer that designs both air conditioners and refrigerants? The company can proudly claim to have launched the world’s first residential air conditioner operating with R-32 refrigerant.

The refrigerant is the means of conveying and transferring heat between the indoor and outdoor units of the air conditioner. Various types are available on the market, but the R-32 type currently interests the industry and environmentalists. It is believed to more efficiently transfer heat, thereby reducing the device’s electricity consumption by about 10% (compared to devices using other types of refrigerants). R-32 also has a lower global warming potential than others and stands out for its low environmental impact.

Until recently, various refrigerants were used in air conditioners, but since the Montreal Protocol in 1987 and the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, regulations have become more stringent regarding the environment. Since then, there has been a shift towards refrigerants with a lower environmental impact, with Daikin being one of the pioneers in this transition.

Proven Efficiency

The energy efficiency of Daikin products is well-established, and the technology developed by the company enables consumers to achieve significant savings. By consuming, on average, 30% less electricity than similar products on the market, Daikin’s offerings allow users to save on electricity costs while having a real and positive impact on the environment.

Daikin can therefore look to the future positively, knowing it has become the first company in the world to successfully apply R-32 to air conditioners, thanks to its unique expertise in product and refrigerant development.
